WHAT IS DEEMOCRACY?
Deemocracy is a group of strongly committed Melbourne Football Club Members who are striving for a more open, fair and transparent Board election process.
We are proposing simple, common sense changes to the Club’s Constitution to address these concerns.
Last year, Deemocracy submitted a re-draft of the Club’s Constitution, produced by King Wood Mallesons.
We will continue to strive for a more open, fair and transparent Board election process at the Melbourne Football Club.
We believe these changes are in the best interests of all Members, and the Club as a whole, as they seek to ensure that Board elections are conducted in a more open, fair and transparent manner.
Since beginning this campaign, well over one hundred Melbourne Football Club Members registered on the Deemocracy website to receive updates on the Deemocracy movement and over one hundred members have signed the proposed resolution.

About the Deemocracy Founder
Deemocracy was founded in July 2022 by Peter Lawrence, a long-standing Member of the Melbourne Football Club, a Foundation Legend (Gold Status) and a Member of Club 11 - a group of individuals who contributed to the recent upgrade to Gosch’s Paddock, the Club’s city-based training ground.
Peter was the only non-incumbent candidate to nominate for election to the Melbourne Football Club Board in January 2021, the first Member vote for the Board in over 15 years.
Peter is supported by the Deemocracy Committee* and a team of external advisers, including a legal team, to assist in their goal for the Melbourne Football Club to be the best organisation it can be off the field.
*The members of the Deemocracy Committee are not revealed here as Peter does not wish them to be subject to any unfavourable treatment. In late November 2022, Peter was advised by the Club officially that as a result of the Deemocracy campaign, his donations to the Club will no longer be accepted and he is ineligible to renew his Platinum (MFC) and Gold (MFCW) player sponsorships. He will also not be permitted to attend certain Club events.
